In March 2024, we launched the Go Green na Optiven season 2 was launched in the presence of Dr. George Wachiuri to address the environmental challenges in Kenya and most importantly enhance environmental conservation among schools.

The Optiven Foundation identified 19 schools in 15 counties and donated 100 trees each to each school where after 6 months the assessment would be conducted. The top 3 schools will be awarded Ksh. 100,000, Ksh. 70,000 and Ksh. 50,000 as The Foundation targeted the youth to ensure long term environmental protection.

Optiven Foundation outsourced 3 judges who will assess and evaluate the effectiveness of the program, thereafter awarding marks to the top schools. Already the assessment was conducted by visiting 15 of the 19 physical schools with 4 schools conducting an online assessment optimizing our online tools.

During the assessment the judges had identified several factors including the seedling survival rate, creativity and innovation, initiative taken by the students and how will they utilize the award once they emerge as winners.

James Kamau, one of the judges who is an environmental biologist talks on the need to enhance the incentives allowing for people to not only join the movement but also be loyal and stick. This he explains will allow for more participation in greening initiatives promoting education and sustainability in the country. The assessment aims to identify and recognize the most involved school in environmental conservation.

The winner will be announced in mid-November after submission of a detailed report.
