Optiven Group Foundation has been awarded for it’s role in the empowermerment of women at the grassroot level. The award by the Women on Boards Network followed a rigorous verification process with teams from the Corporate Affairs, Human Resources and Optiven Foundation staff respectively.
Speaking at the Movenpick Hotel, where the ceremony was held, Ann Nyaga, the Optiven Group Foundation Co-ordinator representing the Chairman, Mr George Wachiuri said, “the award is a testimony of the transformation that Optiven is known for. To all the beneficiaries at the grassroot level we dedicate this award to you“.
Nyaga who was accompanied by female staff serving in other departments within Optiven, took the opportunity to thank all the partners and stakeholders that had worked hand in hand with the foundation to enable it reach the women at the grassroot level.
Speaking shortly after the bestowment of the award, Chairman of the Optiven Group Foundation, Mr George Wachiuri said, “it is truly humbling and we are indeed grateful the Women on Boards Network for this award. It was not an easy win but we are glad it came to us.” He added that the true winners are the teams that go to where the need is, and impacting the community with transformation.
The award winning foundation has been at the forefront in meeting the needs of those in need including in 2021 donation of prime property to Josephine Leshao of Mai Mahiu, building a permanent house for Mama Nduku in Ivovoani, building a permanent ablution block for Korompoi Primary School, providing new wheelchairs to Maria and Agnes of Loitoktok, as well as working with widows and single mothers at county level to ensure their children receive scholarships for education.
The Women on Boards Network Awards recognize and celebrate the champions of gender diversity and inclusion. The awards also honor the successes and strides achieved by women in board service and development of their potential at all levels in the society. The award had 8 categories, 1 of which targeted the Male Champion if Women Agenda award.
