Optiven through it’s foundation has been involved in philanthropic activities and initiatives that continue to transform the society. Through the Optiven Foundation and it’s pillars of operation in education, health, poverty eradication and environment, societies continue to be transformed for the better.

But what exactly is philanthropy? From long-term giving to one-off donations, philanthropy can take many forms. Often considered society’s risk capital, it’s defined as ‘the desire to promote the welfare of others, normally through the generous donation of money to good causes’ – but there’s more to know about its positive effects on the world.

Dr. George Wachiuri, Chairman and Founder of the Optiven Foundation says, “we live in societies that face every day challenges. Philanthropy is a cornerstone for a stable society. When people come together to help others, whether donating money or time, we’re reminded what it means to be human. And from there, communities grow stronger. Philanthropy encapsulates acts that solve and prevent social problems.

Take Optiven’s Feed One More Campaign which provides food in schools and communities in need from the onset of COVID in 2020. This is an initiative that has since improved the health of communities, increased the number of pupils attending schools and opportunities for socio-economic development within the communities.
