At Optiven Group through the Optiven Foundation, we believe that true transformation begins with knowledge. As we celebrate International Literacy Day on 8 September 2026, we join the global community in championing literacy as a powerful tool for creating opportunities, empowering communities and building a sustainable future.

This year’s theme, “Literacy for People, the Planet and Prosperity,” reminds us that literacy goes beyond the ability to read and write. It equips individuals with the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions, participate meaningfully in society, embrace innovation and pursue economic opportunities.

The Optiven Point spoke to Dr. George Wachiuri, Chairman, Optiven Foundation and these were his thoughts. “For Optiven Foundation , literacy is closely connected to our vision of inspiring possibilities by being eyes on the community. An informed society is better positioned to make sound decisions about homeownership, investment, entrepreneurship, environmental conservation and personal financial growth. So today we celebrate literacy and all our partners who support initiatives under Optiven Foundation to support learning.”

Ann Nyaga, the Coordinator at the Optiven Foundation notes, through our community-focused initiatives and commitment to social impact, we continue to support learning, knowledge-sharing and empowerment. We believe that when people have access to knowledge, they are better equipped to build not only better lives, but stronger and more sustainable communities.”

Cathrine Khasoa, Corporate Affairs Manager concludes that at Optiven, we celebrate literacy day 2026 because knowledge opens doors, creates possibilities and builds prosperity.

Happy International Literacy Day 2026!
