For those serving corporate strategy and company growth, it is believed that what truly defines a company is not just what it builds, but three things… the values it upholds, the people it empowers and the difference it makes in the lives of others. For many more, the observation and meaning of Values and celebration of the same is a new concept. Did you know that on 15th October 2026, the world celebrates World Values Day? The theme for the year 2026 is “Values and Volunteering,” which is a global call to translate our beliefs into meaningful acts of kindness, service and responsibility.

At Optiven, we realize that real estate is about more than land ownership and property investment. The Optiven Point, the official company magazine for the organization spoke to Mr. Tom Kibet, a General Manager at Optiven on what he thinks of values as a player in the sector. Kibet says, “It is about transforming lives, creating opportunities and helping people build a lasting legacy for generations to come. This responsibility calls for values that go beyond words and are reflected in our everyday decisions, relationships and actions.”

Cathrine Khasoa, Corporate Affairs Lead at Optiven gives an insight on the company values noting that, “At Optiven the company is guided by a strategy that incorporates seven values which are Innovation, Global Mindset, Sustainability, Credibility, Collaboration, Value Creation and Customer Obsession. These Core Values drive the company’s culture which supports the corporate strategy for extraordinary service delivery as a company.”

As the world celebrates the World Values Day 2026, at Optiven this is a reminder that values become powerful when we put them into action to make our communities happier, stronger and more connected. William Wamwea, who serves in the Customer Service Department at Optiven adds that, “Integrity, accountability, customer focus, teamwork and sustainability are essential principles in building lasting trust and delivering meaningful value.

From engaging customers with transparency to working collaboratively as a team, these principles shape how we serve our clients, support our colleagues and contribute to the communities around us through the Optiven Foundation.”  The 2026 theme – “Values and Volunteering,” – also challenges the Optiven team to embrace volunteering as a practical expression of it’s values. Through acts of kindness, community engagement, environmental conservation and initiatives that uplift vulnerable members of society, Optiven has demonstrated that success is most meaningful when it creates opportunities for others.

Samuel Mugo, the Administration Cordinator at Optiven Foundation says, “At Optiven Foundation, we recognise that everyone has something valuable to contribute. A helping hand, a listening ear, a shared skill or a simple act of generosity can create a ripple effect that transforms lives. Our staff have been our key collaborators in volunteering as partners, customers and stakeholders to live out the values that matter most to them and find practical ways to share these values with the community.”

To cap the observation of the day, Dr. George Wachiuri, who is the Group Chief Executive at Optiven Limited and Chairman of the Optiven Foundation says, “as we mark World Values Day, we remember values are not merely words on a page; they are the choices we make when it matters most.

They influence the trust we earn, the relationships we nurture and the legacy we leave behind. At Optiven, we continue to believe in building more than property. We are committed to building trust, inspiring possibilities and creating a future where people and communities can thrive. This World Values Day, I call upon us all to put our values into action, because when we serve with purpose, we build a better tomorrow for everyone.”
